About
I’m Jo Pawlowska (b. 1990, they/them), an artist and curator based in Iceland. I work with video, photography, 3D, performance art and installation. My practice weaves together queer and trans experiences through these mediums.
My work often explores how the body, networked technologies, and visual culture intersect and influence one another. Much of my work is deeply intimate.
In 2025, I presented a duo solo exhibition with Sadie Cook at the Reykjavík Art Museum Hafnarhús, titled Everything I Want to Tell You.
I’m also part of the artist duo Brokat Films, together with painter and 3D artist Sasa Lubińska.
In 2024, I received the Icelandic artists’ salary (Listamannalaun) from Rannís.
In 2021, I’ve founded the Hamraborg Festival and I co-run it to date.
I actively participate in artist-run initiatives, including serving on the board of Samtök um listamannarekin. I also work as a freelance curator.
